• Rabbi’s back!

    February 27, 2007

Could manage to download two songs of Delhi Heights, the movie where the phenomenon called Rabbi makes his second vocal and musical appearance. Though the music is by the sufi maestro, only one of these two songs, titled Dilli is sung by Rabbi and is awesome. The other one Kitni Der Tak sung by Sonu Nigam is equally wonderful.

This Kitni Der Tak is a nice way to propose a girl - wish I had this song this V-Day emoticon

As for the song Dilli, it just pulled me into nostalgia with its references to Lal Quila and the Yamuna river and I completely agree with the starting line that the city runs with you unlike Mumbai where you run all alone! Alas it does chain down your thoughts again unlike Mumbai, which gives your thoughts all the wings required to make them dream and then turn them into reality. But life indeed lives in Delhi and in Delhi Heights! Then the revelation of truth that being awara is it’s vidhan and fursat is the kaam of the city - well, by and large! Salutes to my city! emoticon

Now the only other song from the movie that I want to download is "Kabhi Aana Na" which is taking its own sweet musical time to download. Maybe I should leave the system on for the whole night! This is one movie I’d like to watch before I leave for AHD.

As for the other news, Laloo’s express has delivered yet again. Just goes on to show the business of management - if you can get what I mean to say here emoticon

Take care and do try the audio of Delhi Heights!

Govt to rock the female cradle

    February 23, 2007

In form of the "Palna" scheme for supporting the girl child, the government seems to be playing the role of the hand that will rock the cradle - the cradle with a girl child. The intentions are indeed noble, given the shameful statistics of the sex ratio in the major cities and states of our nation with the capital performing the poorest on this score and how shameful I feel coming from there.

However I search the concept of PPP here too as we are hearing of this new found love of the ministers of late. Did they try to get support for the scheme? I guess not because most of such thoughtful ideas are done with ulterior motives and may be no one from the corporate world would like to shoulder the responsibility too given their understanding of such bloated announcements of the men in white. I wish to be proved wrong here, but I get reminded of the utter failure of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan and even the Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Another thought runs my mind and you may label me a nuisance on poking trivia in such a noble deed. Are we really making the parents get mature and accept the girl child by taking up such a sheme. I’d prefer a country wide propaganda highlighting the evil in killing of the female foetus. Why not make more stringent the laws on female foeticide - something like rarest of rare crimes! Are we not postponing the awareness among the folks about gender equality by adopting the girl child. Just think, will it make the person who is hell bent against a girl child to allow his wife carry the child for months and feed her knowing fully well that they will have to abondon the child. The devil in me sees that the man will go ahead with the act of foeticide and save both time and money - time by conceiving his wife again earlier and money by avoiding feeding a foetus.

Thus my belief that education is the only thing our nation is in dire need of and it seems to be the panacea of all her ills gets strengthened.

    deja vu

    February 19, 2007

Many incidents qualify being deja vu. Inflation, a new business idea and a relationship.

Its again the time when inflation is showing its supposedly "ugly" head. I never understood why we fear inflation if we love the scorching pace of GDP growth. The two are very good friends and can’t stay away for long. We just need to make sure that a right balance is achieved. A very good article appeared in today’s Business Line on a completely different take on this so called menace of inflation. Read it here.

After about two years, today a new business idea took birth in the mind and I think I will be in a good place to nurture it and that it will receive all the good manure and water to grow into a healthy reality provided the idea itself is a logical one and carries the prospects of successful implementation. A long call it is, but.

Another relationship went through a whirlwind today. Second in last 3 years to be precise. Either I am becoming poor selector of relationships or I am losing the requisite contribution from my side to keep a relation healthy. Since the incident is too fresh and still hot, reason for some time will content being in the back seat and will come to the fore only when the dust has settled and the visibility is clear. I dread if the conclusion blames me squarely.
