a very nice experience
It wasn’t the first time that I readied myself for it but yes it indeed was the first time when I was to do it all alone – survey people.
Last when I did this it was a marketing assignment and today it was the initiation of my group’s business plan. That time the survey was done by students in pairs and the fear of being rebuked was a shared one then but not this time. Fortunately the city was not that averse to my intruding their private conversations on Sunday evening in a mall and seeking a few minutes of their time.
It was a great experience lasting little under an hour full of apprehensions especially when I zeroed in on a family. Approaching a bunch of guys was the easiest thing to do. Though approaching a gang of girls was not easy but approaching a family was a clear intrusion and most risky but the people were very accommodating. A few refused to give any time and those all were polite refusals. Believe me every time it was a great relief!
A very well spent evening this proved to be though when my team (the three of us) sat down to compare our notes (they too had spent the evening in similar exercise) it left us with some unexpected results but then its not that we weren’t prepared for such results.
